Brand integration has become large enough to function as its own entertainment-marketing industry. The range of recent examples — F1, Stranger Things, Wicked, Marty Supreme and others — shows how many different jobs partnerships can perform.

They can offset costs, extend reach, provide production value, generate retail presence or create new fan experiences. Those are very different strategic objectives, even if they all appear under the same partnership label.

The mistake is evaluating integrations only by visibility. The better question is what the brand contributed to the campaign and what the property contributed to the brand.
